In the video, "Microbiologist Raul Cuero PhD on Sparking Creativity on Living Smart with Patricia Gras.mpg" on Youtube, the story follows Raul Cuero and his life growing up in Columbia.  Raul grew up in a struggling environment and reached a higher education through basketball.  During his higher education, he experienced stereotyping that someone of his physical stature and inability to speak the language would not be an educated type.  This adversity only fueled him, pushing him to become a microbiologist.
In the one on one interview, Cuero speaks on how educating himself helped him travel and experience it all.  He talks specifically about how his book helped him reach more people and that they all at first, felt he was from a privileged background.  Cuero also speaks about when he was in athletics, people thought the opposite of him.  Thinking that he was not educated.  He then talks about becoming universal, a lesson he learned from these adversities.  When you are universal, you transcend social structures and culture, causing you not to be limited.
These ideas are something anyone can and should learn from.  Life in general, especially with the social structures created in humanity, give everyone limitations.  What Cuero's life represents is breaking the mold of societies ideas.  He was a man who was born in a world where his civilization limited him of opportunities. Cuero never acknowledged these limitations which gave him the freedom to achieve whatever he desired.
To further the idea of surpassing limitations given to you by society, Cuero has experienced it from both ends.  As a college athlete, society assumed he was not book smart.  As a person who wasn't able to speak the language, society thought of him as not smart.  When Cuero wrote his book, people thought of him as someone descending from a privileged life.  Every point in life gives you limitations and Cuero saw that first hand.  His life is a great blueprint for anyone to see, with enough effort and willpower, you can achieve anything you want to achieve in life.
